Pleasure Beach welcomes local MP's

14th March 2008 Print
Pleasure Beach, Blackpool received some very special guests today, when two of the Fylde coasts most prominent MP's paid a visit to Britain's favourite tourist attraction. Gordon Marsden, MP for Blackpool South, and Joan Humble, MP for Blackpool North and Fleetwood, visited Pleasure Beach as part of their British Tourism Week Programme.

As part of their trip they took time to take in the sights of Pleasure Beach's brand new Adventure Golf, a £1/2 million investment which is now open on Flagstaff Gardens. They also met the cast of the South Beach Musical, the new show which will begin its daily run from Friday 21st March at the newly renovated venue, Planet Rock.

The MP's then met with Pleasure Beach Director and Company Secretary, David Cam, to discuss a number of issues relating to the tourism industry, in particular a reduction in the rate of VAT on tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants and theatres, to bring the UK into line with Europe and a change to the current system of British Summer Time which would stop the clocks changing and result in lighter evenings which will save energy, save lives and deliver 200 extra hours of evening trade.

David Cam commented, "We are delighted to welcome Gordon Marsden and Joan Humble to Pleasure Beach and give them the opportunity to sample our latest £1/2 million investment, Adventure Golf."

"It is important that MPs support tourism and this visit allows them to experience first hand what we to offer here at Pleasure Beach, as well as discuss some of the very important issues which face our industry. It is vital that the Government takes tourism seriously and understand the issues and problems which face us".
