Tennis star promotes his homeland The Cyprus Tourism Organisation has announced the launch of its new nationwide advertising campaign as well as partnering with Cypriot Wimbledon semi-finalist and rising tennis star, Marcos Baghdatis to promote tourism to his homeland.

The high-impact advertising campaign will run until June and include prime-time television spots on national TV channels and leading satellite outlets including Channel 4, ITV1, Sky and Travel Channel. In addition to broadcast media, the campaign will also have a print and an outdoor component with advertising in national newspaper supplements and selected glossy magazines including Good Housekeeping and Cosmopolitan.

The outdoor campaign will target commuters with billboards and digital screens in key London locations as well as bus mega rears, rail stations and Central London underground stations.

The “Love Cyprus” theme with heart-shaped imagery will continue to be rolled out and the campaign will emphasise Cyprus’ stunning scenery and beautiful beaches as well as its family-friendly attractions. Baghdatis will act as an ambassador and appear in future advertising as well as participating in a series of global events.

With over 1.2 million British arrivals in 2007, the UK remains the main market for Cyprus. The campaign aims to reinforce the destination’s year round sunshine appeal and promote its core products.
