The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau today announces that the area's golf courses are open, or preparing to open, for the 2008 season. Weather permitting, golfers can enjoy the Pocono Mountains: Discover Golf’s Great Destination Secret courses, which range from challenging tracks that test the lowest handicappers to beginner-friendly courses and everything in between.

"Coming off an exciting and eventful 2007 season, golfers are anxiously anticipating play on the many Pocono Mountains courses this spring," says Carl Wilgus, executive director of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. "We have a wealth of options here, whether golfers are looking for a classic course by legendary designers such as A.W. Tillinghast and Donald Ross, or a modern gem by the likes of Jack Nicklaus."

Opening dates or opening day projections of the Pocono Mountains courses for the 2008 season are contingent on weather.

In addition to championship golf courses, the Pocono Mountains offer luxurious spas, first-class dining, shopping and historic attractions, making the four-county destination perfect for a family vacation, business meeting or weekend getaway. Visitors can relax and reconnect in the authentic beauty of this lush mountain destination.
