Last Friday (23 May) ITV1’s This Morning showed over one million viewers how to spend their Perfect Day in Scotland as part of the new season of their popular Getaways series.

With support from visitscotland.com/perfectday, ITV1’s This Morning crew spent time in the Highlands taking part in some of the fantastic adventures that visitors can experience there - including a hunt for the infamous Loch Ness Monster with Deepscan Cruises, a dolphin and seal safari with Moray Diving Ltd, quad biking in the Rothiemurchus Estate, an afternoon in the Hilton Coylumbridge Fun House and some family fun at the Landmark Forest Theme Park.

Amy Monk, Director for Getaways said:

“Our adventures in Inverness and Aviemore have provided some fantastic footage for our new series of holiday Getaways. We explore some of the myths, mysteries, legends and adventures that can be found throughout the Highlands. Tune in to find out exactly what we discover. Could our crew have found the Loch Ness Monster?”

Suzanne Casey of VisitScotland said:

“From discovering the living history of the area and exploring the unique Highland culture to sea kayaking and wildlife watching, the Highlands really is the ideal place to experience fascinating adventures, so it’s no surprise that ITV’s This Morning chose to film here.”

ITV1’s This Morning toured Inverness, Aviemore and the surrounding area with the five star Highland Explorer tours (highlandexplorertours.com). They began with a hunt for the Loch Ness Monster and a trip to the Loch Ness visitor centre at Drumnadrochit, followed by a tour of the City of Inverness – a historic city that's easy to explore by foot.

After lunch they drove to the Moray Firth for a sea safari with Moray Diving Ltd. The Moray Firth is famous for the world’s most northerly Bottlenose dolphins. There are also common dolphins, porpoises, Minke whales, Pilot whales and lots of seals. In the mouths of the rivers you can often see Osprey fishing.

The next day they drove to the Rothiemurchus Estate in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and discovered some of the great adventures you can experience there. They then had an afternoon of family fun in the Hilton Coylumbridge Fun House and the Landmark Forest Theme Park at Carrbridge.

ITV1’s This Morning stayed in the Best Western Palace Hotel in Inverness and the Hilton Colymbridge near the outdoor adventures of the Rothiemurchus Estate. There is a range of accommodation to suit all budgets and holiday experiences In Inverness and Aviemore - from the four star Scottish Youth Hostels in the likes of Inverness and Aviemore to the luxury hotels.
