Gstaad offers healthy holiday options this summer

27th June 2008 Print
Whether you prefer a luxury spa break or local Alpine traditions, this summer of 2008, Gstaad is offering all kinds of wellness holidays. The rustic, romantic ‘Alp Turnels’ offers visitors a two-day indulgence package comprising of traditional relaxation methods. The highlight is a healthy whey bath in clean mountain air.

An invigorating 90-minute walk leads through the picturesque valley to the residence where Mr and Mrs Zumstein welcome their guests with home-made refreshments. Visitors are then given an insight into daily life in the Alps. The whey which is produced during the traditional cheese making process is not only refreshing and healthy as a drink, but it is also extremely good for the skin and helps you to relax. Baths are taken outside in a large wooden tub. Hardy souls can then rinse themselves off in the freezing cold Brunnetrog. However, a hot water shower is also available to use. The guests sleep in beds nestled between fragrant hay and straw in the barn.

The authentic indulgence programme in the mountains including food, a tour and a whey bath costs about 60 euros (approx. £48) for adults and 40 euros (approx. £32) for children.

The luxury equivalent to Alpine wellness is available in the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad. This five star hotel has a modern, Asian-style spa. The ‘Bellevue Refresher’ package for example, is a four-day indulgence programme which includes a luxurious Japanese bath for two people, unlimited use of the spa, a gourmet menu in the award-winning restaurant Prado and two dinners in the Brasserie Coelho will make the short trip a very relaxing, luxurious experience. Also included in the price are the overnight stays in one of the cosily furnished double rooms of the Grand Hotel.

The ‘Bellevue Refresher’ package including breakfast and visitors’ tax is available from 850 euros (approx. £670). For more information about the hotel and other attractive packages, just go to Bellevue-gstaad.com.
