Bresciatourism reassures tourists in the Lake Garda area

1st July 2008 Print
The President of Bresciatourism, Alessio Merigo, has commented on the events that took place at the Garda Lake resort of Gardone Riviera (a town in the Province of Brescia) and in particular to the food poisoning of a group of British tourists.

Alessio Merigo stated:

“This unfortunate and unforeseeable incident should not compromise in any way the very high reputation of our hotels and other facilities in the Garda Region of the Province of Brescia. We are still establishing the exact cause of the food poisoning and the responsibilities for this incident. However, stresses Mr Merigo, I do not think that what happened will damage the image of our tourism abroad and have a negative effect on the current holiday season.

“I would like to remind you that our facilities, in particular on Lake Garda, are well known and appreciated abroad particularly for the high standards of quality and impeccable service as well as for the natural beauty of the area and its cultural heritage. We have reacted to this problem immediately by making all the necessary controls and adopted all the possible health measures for the case. Our clients have given us proof of their trust by staying in our resorts and not cancelling holidays previously arranged.”

The majority of tourists in the Lake Garda area are traditionally British, German and Dutch nationals.
