New for Norway this summer

9th July 2008 Print
Visitors to Oslo will have the last chance to see the ‘old’ Holmenkollen ski jump this month before work begins to construct fantastic new facilities. Work will start in August to build two new ski jumps, new cross country and biathlon arenas as well as supporting infrastructure including entrance roads and parking facilities.

Holmenkollen is not only a popular tourist attraction but much used facility and was centre stage in the 1952 Winter Olympics. It is being upgraded in time for the 2011 Nordic World Ski Championships. The project is due for completion before the end of 2009.

The area will be closed to the public during certain periods while the work is carried out. The same applies to the Holmenkollen Ski Museum at the base of the ski jump tower.

Fly direct to Oslo with Norwegian from London Stansted or Gatwick. Fares start from £55 one way including tax. You can also fly direct from Edinburgh from £84 one way including tax. See norwegian.no for more details or to book.
