Gloucestershire is back on the tourism map

25th July 2008 Print
Gloucestershire is back on the tourism map Exactly one year after severe flooding hit Gloucestershire in July 2007, the area is being put back on the map – quite literally – as the first county in the UK to have its own interactive online map.

The brand new Google-powered Gloucestershire Interactive Map is a must for visitors – and includes 3,000+ arts, entertainment and leisure listings, showcasing the county like never before.

Visitors planning a trip to Gloucestershire from around the world can now use the new map to arrange a day trip to a fantastic county attraction, before hunting down a nearby village pub for a spot of lunch; pinpoint the perfect hotel before booking a treat at a sumptuous spa; or reserve a table at one of Gloucestershire’s finest restaurants a short walk away from the theatre – to give just a few examples.

The Gloucestershire Interactive Map has been unveiled by SoGlos.com – The online magazine for Gloucestershire, to celebrate its official first birthday, having launched the exact week the floods hit the county in July 2007.

The innovative new geographical resource is both easy-to-use and absolutely free, supporting SoGlos.com’s comprehensive editorial coverage of local events and array of authoritative reviews.

“One year after the devastating floods were all over the news, we wanted to show the world just how much Gloucestershire has to offer – and the new interactive map is the perfect way to do that,” Michelle Byrne, editor of SoGlos.com, said.

Anyone planning a trip to the county should visit the Gloucestershire Interactive Map at soglos.com/gloucestershire-map.
