DFDS Seaways recognised with affiliate award

Cruise ferry operator DFDS Seaways has been highly commended by online industry experts, sailing away with a prestigious award at the first A4U Affiliate Marketing Awards 2008 in London.

DFDS Seaways was shortlisted against stiff competition in the Best UK Travel & Leisure Vertical category, at the much-anticipated event, which was held at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in June.

The awards, which highlight achievements within the affiliate industry throughout the UK, saw DFDS Seaways beat off competition from the likes of Virgin Holidays to the enviable second place position for its innovative affiliate marketing activity.

Judges at the ceremony, billed as the ‘Oscars’ of the affiliate marketing world and hosted by stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre, congratulated DFDS Seaways for its major contribution to the industry.

Head of UK Marketing at DFDS Seaways, Pete Akerman, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us given the size of the travel brands that we were up against.

“The judges noted that the excellent incentives and support offered to affiliates and the successful event onboard the Queen of Scandinavia last year were key to such a high position in this category.

“Recognition must go to all involved and in particular the online marketing team for their continued hard work within this important channel for us.

“This accolade will positively showcase our scheme to the UK affiliate marketing community.”

DFDS Seaways runs several ferry routes in Europe– Newcastle to Amsterdam in Holland, Harwich to Esbjerg in Denmark and Copenhagen in Denmark to Oslo in Norway
