Londoners experience Chicago with launch of branded taxis The Chicago and Illinois Tourist Office is giving Londoners free cab rides and a chance to win a magnificent trip for two to the great American destination. To celebrate the next phase of Chicago’s UK advertising campaign, the destination has released a fleet of 25 branded taxis, adorned with quirky phrases and the city’s beautiful skyline, onto the streets of London.

During the month of August, lucky Londoners have two ways to take advantage of Chicago’s first-ever mass taxi launch, with free cab fares and the chance to win a complimentary holiday to the city – and all by just spotting one of the Chicago branded taxis.

In golden-ticket style, 10 of the 25 Chicago taxis will be offering free rides* to Londoners in Zones One and Two. Whether it’s commuters on their way into work or those wanting a stylish alternative to the Tube, simply hail one down on the first Monday (4th August) and last Friday (29th August) of the month to see if you receive a free ride.

Jan Kostner, deputy director, Chicago and Illinois Tourist Office, said, "The branded taxis, showcasing our amazing architecture, gives Londoners a taste of the city, on us. Through the free rides and complimentary holiday, we’re hoping to show people why Chicago is the ideal city-break”.

What’s better than a free ride, except maybe a free holiday? Londoners also have the chance to win a trip for two to Chicago to experience the city first hand. When you spot a Chicago branded cab, simply snap a picture of the taxi on your camera-phone and text it to 87121. This will enter you into a drawing to win two return tickets to Chicago with United Airlines, three nights in a chic, downtown hotel and generous spending money to use at Chicago’s endless dining and shopping options. Winners will be announced the first week of September.

The Chicago branded taxis are the second phase of the destination’s new UK advertising campaign, which launched earlier this year with an integrated campaign including London Underground posters.
