Follow in Boris' footsteps to discover Baroque Germany

26th August 2008 Print
Thank goodness we know now who really owns Ludwigsburg Palace - like Boris Johnson who toured one of Germany’s most magnificent Baroque palaces and residence of his ancestor King Frederik I of Württemberg as seen in this week's BBC “Who do you think you are?” programme, you could explore the 18th century opulently furnished interior and beautiful gardens restored in Baroque style.

Only 10 miles north of Stuttgart, the Ludwigsburg ensemble consists of the residential palace, palace gardens and the pleasure palaces Favorite and Monrepos. There is also a Ceramics Museum with a collection of over 70.000 exhibits and Fashion Museum featuring clothing from the 18th century to today.

Music lovers should visit Ludwigsburg Palace in time for the annual Ludwigsburg Palace Festival, one of the oldest and most distinguished classical music festivals in Germany, held every year in spring, summer and autumn. A programme featuring international artists is next on from 22 to 30 November.
