Walk more than 39 steps in Scotland this winter

The walk starts in Peebles at Bank House, the home of John Buchan’s sister Anna and follows the Borders countryside to Broughton. Buchan developed his love of walking whilst staying with his grandparents in this Tweeddale village and much of the Borders wildlife and scenery is featured in his novels including The Courts of the Morning and The Island of Sheep.
As well as the John Buchan Way, the Borders has many long distance walks that are easily accessible and can be broken down into shorter routes. St. Cuthbert’s Way follows the route of St. Cuthbert from Melrose to Lindisfarne. The newly finished Borders Abbeys Way links the four Border Abbeys in a circular route taking in Melrose, Kelso, Jedburgh and Dryburgh and The Southern Upland Way which finishes in Coskburnspath.
To make the most of your walking trip to the Borders take advantage of the Tontine Hotel in Peebles or The Buccleuch Arms Hotel in St. Boswells who are offering three nights bed and breakfast for £99 per person.
