Shakespeare Country – A great brand destination

Along with Shakespeare Country, the remaining nine cities include London Westminster, Sydney, Edinburgh, Dubai, Hong Kong, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Cardiff, Washington DC and Kiev(Kyiv) in the Ukraine.
Phil Hackett, Chief Executive of Shakespeare Country contributed a two page report on Shakespeare Country as an example of a destination brand exploring what makes Stratford-upon-Avon attractive as a place to live, work and invest. The report also features the Royal Shakespeare Company transformation of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre which re-opens in 2010. Although small in comparison to the other nine cities, Shakespeare Country is one of the world’s most recognised destination brands, promoting Stratford-upon-Avon which attracts over 4 million visitors a year.
The report and its findings will be unveiled at the ‘Cities: the Secrets of a Winning Destination’ conference held at the Royal Society of Arts in London from 3 – 4 March. The international two day conference will examine key trends and developments that will help combat the economic downturn and shape the cities of the future.
Phil Hackett, Chief Executive of Shakespeare Country stated “We’re delighted that Shakespeare Country has been included within the report which features many of the world’s leading cities. Being featured in this major report recognises that Shakespeare Country, although small in size, is a unique and leading global destination brand”.
