Michelin stars continue to make Copenhagen twinkle

19th March 2009 Print
Michelin stars continue to make Copenhagen twinkle Each year it’s the same nerve-racking story, which restaurants will be rewarded and which might loose their Michelin stars? The Michelin Guide 2009 awards Copenhagen a record total of 14 stars - more than other European cities such as Rome, Berlin, Vienna and Madrid. These days, Copenhagen has gained a position as a true gastronomic capital and a “must go” for gourmet hunters worldwide.

Copenhagen’s “newcomers” in this year’s acclaimed Michelin guide are: Restaurant Herman at the Hotel NIMB in Tivoli Gardens and Restaurant Kokkeriet in the charming Nyboder district. In less than a year, gourmet novelty Herman has managed to establish itself as one of Copenhagen’s leading restaurants and earned itself the respect of the Michelin Guide’s reviewers. Uniquely for an amusement park, Tivoli Gardens now boasts two Michelin-starred restaurants on its premises. The other awarded restaurant, Kokkeriet, deservedly regained the one star it lost in 2007, and so the Danish capital at this moment in time boasts a total of 14 twinkling stars at 13 Michelin-starred restaurants in the city.

And the winner is…
