A new guide to Greenwich and the Docklands

8th June 2009 Print
A new guide to Greenwich and the Docklands Maritime Greenwich and London’s Docklands have a vibrant and unmissable wealth of culture, shopping, dining and relaxing just waiting to be explored. Easily reached by Docklands Light Railway (DLR), all are featured in a free new mini-guide produced by Time Out magazine which ensures you will find the best things to see and do, whether you visit for a day, night out or short break.

Now in its eighth year, this essential guide is popular with Londoners and visitors to the Greenwich and Docklands area. This year, emphasis has been placed on value days out, highlighting that many attractions offer free entry. There are also ‘crunch buster’ boxes with tips on how to get the most out of a visit and make your money go further.

As well as featuring the iconic heritage attractions that Greenwich is known for, such as the Royal Observatory and Old Royal Naval College, the guide highlights the underlying fresh, vibrant and perhaps more hidden side of Greenwich with its colourful markets; lively pubs; restaurants and stylish, often quirky, shops. It also tells you where to enjoy the best green, open spaces plus suggestions for romantic or fun family days and exciting evening entertainment ranging from live music bars to theatre, comedy and film shows.

Unmissable highlights from the huge variety of festivals and events from now until the end of the year are listed. These include the highly acclaimed Greenwich + Docklands International Festival in June; Greenwich Beer & Jazz Festival and Greenwich Film Festival, both in July, and the Greenwich Comedy Festival in September. 2009 is also the International Year of Astronomy with numerous special events taking place at the Royal Observatory

The free guide has been published by Time Out magazine in partnership with the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, Docklands Light Railway, Canary Wharf Ltd and the Museum of London Docklands. It’s available from selected tourist information centres nationwide, plus hotels, bars, pubs, libraries and community centres around London.
