Everything you need to know about Turkey
The Turkish Culture & Tourism Office (TCTO) UK has announced the launch of its brand new website, gototurkey.co.uk, featuring a fresh user-friendly design, lots of useful information on what to see and do, where to stay, as well as plenty of exciting new features including an image gallery, travel planning section, news and events, downloadable forms, fact-sheets and maps. The site will also be linked to many other relevant sites such as the Turkish Consulate for visa information, ABTA-registered tour operators to Turkey and hotel directories. It also features a multitude of cultural information, reflecting the PR and marketing strategy for 2009-10 which aims to emphasise the country’s cultural, as well as its touristic offerings.
Irfan Onal, TCTO UK Director, explains how in this “highly competitive tourism market, the website is not only a key source of easily accessible information, but also a powerful marketing tool. Not only do we have plenty of consumer information on the site, we’ve also created a separate section for the trade and press for the first time, including contacts, downloadable application forms, such as for filming permits and marketing proposals and event information.
“We’re confident it really will be an excellent tool to promote new marketing and PR opportunities and ultimately contribute to growth and increased awareness about what the country has to offer in addition to beach and family holidays in the sun: from city breaks in historic settings to action-packed activity holidays and fantastic opportunities for conference and incentive travel just to name a few”.
Despite the credit crunch, Turkey has continued to be a stellar performer this year with a 10% year-on-year growth in UK visitors the first four months of this year alone. Last year, 2.2 million Britons visited Turkey, and it was in the top 10 most visited countries in the world, welcoming over 26 million visitors from all around the world.
