Volkswagen Vans overtake rivals for fifth consecutive month

In September, total registrations of Volkswagen vans (up to 7.4 tonnes) actually rose by nine per cent, compared to the same month in 2008, thanks to increases in sales of Transporter and Caddy (including the Caddy Maxi) by six and 28 per cent respectively.
In total, for the year to the end of September, with sales of vans (up to 7.4 tonnes) down by 40 per cent, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles managed to increase its market share by 2.3 per cent to 10.65 per cent compared to the same period last year.
‘I’m really proud that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has genuinely improved its market share and been successful through the tough economic conditions so far this year. With continued improvements in residual values of our vehicles and low rate finance offers still available, this clearly shows that Volkswagen vans are very competitive and make great commercial sense,’ said Simon Elliott, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
