Barclays Wealth reissues FTSE Generator Bond

19th October 2009 Print
Barclays Wealth is reissuing its deposit based FTSE Generator Bond, which offers full capital protection and the prospect of an early maturity, following the debut success of its predecessor.

Launching today, the six-year investment boasts an early maturity feature which offers investors the prospect of a ‘kick-out' from the third anniversary onwards. An early maturity will occur on the first observation date (starting from the third anniversary and occurring every six months thereafter) where the FTSE 100 is equal to, or higher, than its starting level. For each year the investment is in force investors receive a return of 6%; if, for example, the product matures on its third anniversary, the return would be 18%.

If there is no return after six years, investors receive back all of their original capital irrespective of the level of the FTSE 100.

The minimum investment is £10,000.

Lisa Chaudhuri, manager, Barclays Wealth, says: "Kick-out products have long enjoyed significant support from investors prepared to accept some risk to capital, but Generator now enables even the most cautious of investors to benefit from the prospect of an early maturity. With six-monthly observation points from the third anniversary onwards, Generator gives investors the opportunity to take some payoff risk with the potential to beat fixed rate bonds."
