Relax this winter in a cosy new home

Although with the threat of rising energy bills once again, this vision is becoming increasingly expensive! With this in mind Miller Homes is encouraging all home owners to support Energy Saving Week (19th – 25th October) and stop wasting time, energy and money.
Consumer advice on keeping warm, saving money on energy bills and reducing carbon footprints includes; checking your heating system, eliminating draughts, switching off electrical sockets, considering changing energy suppliers, submitting regular meter readings, chasing bills and being generally more energy efficient. As nearly 50% of heat loss in a typical home is through walls and the loft, it is therefore reassuring to know that by buying a newly built home these energy and money wasting elements are dramatically reduced.
Steve McElroy, sales and marketing director for Miller Homes Yorkshire said: “Many advantages of newly built homes are behind the walls so purchasers are not always aware of them. They include effective insulation products and more energy-efficient heating systems.”
Miller Homes ensures all its properties adhere to the stringent guidelines on thermal efficiency within the home. The housebuilder has even gone the extra mile and included self-closing interior doors on some properties, depending on house type, ensuring the heat is kept in.
Steve continued: “The winter months naturally increase energy consumption in turn increasing our bills. Thermal efficiency and the reduction of our carbon footprint are hot topics, it’s therefore even more important that we are conscious of our energy consumption.
“Buyers of newly built homes will have peace of mind knowing that their home is built to high standards incorporating energy efficient and money saving insulation and a fully serviced heating system. Our buyers can also keep a check on their carbon footprint with Miller’s own energy saving calculator on mymillerstreet.com.”
Even new home owners can save a little more money by turning down their thermostat by just 1°C. The ideal recommended room temperature should be around 21°C and around 60°C for water, saving on average up to 10% on energy bills.
The housebuilder currently has a broad selection of warm properties available at developments across the region from stylish starter homes to executive, detached houses. Properties range from one bedroom apartments priced from only £75,000 to five bedroom detached homes priced from £335,000. Miller also offers a range of financial assistance schemes to help with any budget or circumstances.
The showhomes and sales centres are mainly open seven days a week from 10.30am – 5.30pm. Alternatively visit millerhomes.co.uk for more details.
