Topping out at City Point in Derby

As the name suggests, timber frame construction is a method of building that solely relies on timber frames for structural support. There are many advantages to this technique, not least its speed of build, thermal and acoustic excellence, durability, design flexibility but most importantly its environmental credentials.
This is the first time the Leicestershire-based housebuilder has utilised timber frames to build an apartment block and its success was most definitely rewarding of the champagne toast.
Darren Langton, Construction Director at David Wilson comments “As a company, we are open to new and exciting methods of build and we have been impressed with the ease and speed that the timber frames have afforded us to erect this new apartment block.
“Timber frames are one of the more modern build techniques and thanks to the success here, I’m sure we will look at utilising this method on further projects in the future.”
The new block of apartments have taken just eight weeks to erect but already they have been snapped up by a seasoned property investor who was quick to recognise their potential as a buy to let property.
Paul Perriam, Area Director at Bagshaws Residential, which is part of Sequence Homes, attended the topping out ceremony on behalf of the investor. He comments “The location of City Point is the ideal place to purchase a buy to let property- it’s close to Derby city centre whilst Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham are all easily accessible too.
“Plus, the development itself has been well planned and comprises a good selection of house types which will appeal to a wide range of tenants seeking a quality new build rental property in a convenient location.”
Located on Harrow Street, City Point currently offers a selection of four- and five- bedroom homes.
Prices at the development start from £239,995 for a four- bedroom house.
