Volvo adds 180ps D5 diesel engine to all-new C70 range

1st June 2006 Print
Volvo C70 Volvo has released details of the diesel model in its all-new C70 coupe/convertible range, which will be available in Sport, SE and SE Lux trim levels with prices ranging from £29,420 to £33,170 (on the road).

Volvo’s powerful five-cylinder, 2.4-litre D5 turbodiesel engine, which is available in varying states of tune across the Volvo range from the XC90 to the S40, delivers 180PS and 350Nm of torque from 1,750rpm to 3,250rpm in the all-new C70. It is initially available exclusively with Geartronic transmission as standard¹ so drivers can enjoy the benefits of automatic transmission with the extra flexibility offered by a manual gearbox.

The high level of performance and torque for the C70 D5 Geartronic makes 0-60mph possible in 8.8 seconds, with 38.7mpg on the Combined cycle and competitive emissions of 193 g/km.

Volvo anticipates that 35 per cent of the all-new C70s will be sold with the D5 diesel engine, with the Sport predicted to be the most popular trim level.

"With room for four adults and the added security of a unique three-piece folding metal roof that transforms it from a coupe to a convertible in less than 30 seconds, the all-new Volvo C70 is already proving a great success. The diesel engine is more good news for the new C70’s desirability," says Hugh Reid, managing director, Volvo Car UK.
