Gold medal for Volvo garden at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show The Volvo Car UK garden (‘Volvo: The Artist’s Garden’) at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is one of only three in the ‘Show Gardens’ category to receive a Gold medal in the RHS awards for exhibitors.

A panel of expert RHS judges completed the judging of the gardens last night prior to the show opening today. ‘Show Gardens’ is one of the biggest of the nine categories which are all judged against strict standard criteria (rather than against each other) and awarded medals starting from Bronze, to Silver, Silver-Gilt or Gold.

The Volvo garden, titled ‘Volvo: The Artist’s Dream’, by garden designer Thomas Hoblyn, was designed for the artist Simon Carter to provide an outdoor room as a studio and a garden to provide suitable, colourful inspiration. Simon’s fascination with the relationship between nature and the man-made provides the inspiration for the garden’s design with the flowing shapes of the beds and the hornbeam hedge with reflective pond complementing the fluid elegance of the all-new Volvo C70 coupe/convertible parked by his studio.
