Volvo dealer Culpin’s raises £2,258 for PHAB charity

Mr. Peter Emery, Service Administrator for Culpin’s who was responsible for the fund raising said, “I got the idea when I saw this fabulous Volvo mountain bike arrive as part of the Volvo merchandise collection. It seemed like a great raffle prize, Culpin’s agreed to donate the bike and so the idea of selling raffle tickets over the counter in the dealership in aid of the PHAB charity was born. We sent raffle books to customers and out with the monthly invoices and had a great response. We approached some suppliers and PHAB donated runners-up prizes. We’re pleased to be associated with supporting a local and national charity which is such a worthwhile cause. All in all, the Volvo mountain bike, which is equipped with front and rear suspension and hydraulic disc brakes, was a big draw in raising the money.”
Currently celebrating its 50th year, PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied club) is dedicated to the integration of people with physical disabilities in the community and is the national charity to benefit from Culpin’s raffle.
The £1,258 was raised over 4 months during the summer and will be used by the local Spalding PHAB branch.
The money will directly support a social club where physically handicapped people are chaperoned by able-bodied individuals, which assists disabled people get out of their homes to mix and socialise with others.
Pete added “it’s the first time we’ve done a raffle like this in aid of charity and the first time we’ve been involved with PHAB. It’s certainly something we’re looking to repeat in 2008 and it could even be the start of an annual event”.
