House builder Barratt West Midlands’ Clover Mead development on Dawley Road in Telford has proved to be the ideal place to build a future for purchasers Jo Mackay and RAF husband, Gordon plus their nine month old daughter Imogen.

Gordon and Jo, both 27 were born and bred in Telford, but as a result of Gordon’s job, the couple have lived in many parts of the UK, most recently in North Yorkshire. When Gordon was posted in Telford this April, they saw this as the ideal opportunity to go back to their roots and build a future together in their home town.

Gordon who works as an Information and Communication Technologist for the RAF commented, “I have worked for the RAF for six years and in that time we have been based in many parts of the country, from Oxfordshire to North Yorkshire and have always lived in services accommodation.

“However, as soon as I found out that I was going to be posted in Telford for three years, it seemed like the ideal time for Jo and I to start building our future together and get ourselves onto the property ladder.

“We decided to buy a home that we would be able to keep for a long while, with the aim to rent it out when I get moved again and then return to live in it when I retire from the forces. Because of this we needed somewhere that was big enough for us to grow into, but after looking at what was available we realised that we wouldn’t be able to afford what we wanted without some help.

“When we found out about Barratt’s Head Start scheme which was available at Clover Mead, it seemed ideal for us as it meant that we only had to initially pay 85 per cent of the price. This made home ownership really affordable for us and meant that we were able to buy the home that we really wanted.”

Jo added, “We had looked at a few other new build developments, but Clover Mead really blew the others out of the water. It is in a lovely location and the houses are really spacious. When we saw our house for the first time we knew it was for us, it really ticked all of the boxes.

“We are really pleased with our new home as it is helping us to build our future together and I’m sure that we will have many happy years to come.”

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands commented, “Our Head Start scheme is very popular with a range of different homebuyers. With the scheme, purchasers can receive a 15 per cent interest free loan for ten years, which can not only eliminate the need for a large deposit, but can also help them to secure the best mortgage rates.

“Clover Mead offers a wide selection of family homes and with the chance to use some of our home buying schemes, such as Head Start, there really has never been a better chance to buy.”

Clover Mead which forms part of the Ironstone development is ideally situated close to Telford town centre which has much to offer, including shops, bars, restaurants, cinema, bowling alley and ice rink. The M54 and M6 motorways are also within easy reach. Once complete, Ironstone will also provide a range of amenities such as shops, offices, restaurants, bars, a new primary school and parks.

Head Start allows eligible purchasers to move into a brand new home for just 85 per cent of the price. There is no interest or rent to pay on the remaining 15 per cent, the deferred amount is simply paid back as 15 per cent of the property’s open market value up to the point of resale or within ten years, whichever is sooner.

Clover Mead currently offers a selection of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses. Prices range from £189,500 to £306,200. For more information, log on to barratthomes.co.uk/clovermead.
