Buyers are keeping it in the family at Canalside Wharf

When Rachael Howes paid a visit to George Wimpey’s stunning Canalside Wharf development in Staffordshire, one look was all it took to convince her that this was the location she wanted to settle down in.
Her younger brother, Richard, had recently purchased a house of his own there, having been attracted by the appealing combination of beautifully-designed homes and a gorgeous location on the outskirts of the rural village of Weston.
And it was while visiting the development where her brother’s brand new house was being built that Rachael (38) fell in love with the place – even though she had not previously given a moment’s thought to leaving her existing home in Wolverhampton.
“I wasn’t looking to move house at all, but I was so impressed with the quality of the homes at the development and with the village, I decided to purchase one of the properties myself,” she says.
“Weston is a peaceful, safe and secure village and yet it’s still just a few miles from all the amenities of Stafford, and the homes at Canalside Wharf are really lovely. I saw it as a rare opportunity to move to a dream location.
“I chose the two-bedroom ‘Alder’ apartment partly because it is just the right size and just the right location. However the big appeal of the property was its large, dual-aspect window overlooking the canal and countryside.
“I love the place and it’s got everything I’m looking for.”
Before moving to Canalside Wharf in August, 31-year-old teacher Richard had lived only a short distance from his sister in the same area of Wolverhampton.
Now Rachael, a senior radiographer, is delighted they will be located close to each other when she moves to her brand new apartment.
She says: “Richard chose the three-bedroom link-detached ‘Cresswell’, and he’s delighted with it.
“For me, the ‘Alder’ apartment is perfect because it’s actually more spacious than the two-bedroom semi I was living in previously – and, of course, it’s got the spectacular, panoramic views.”
To make reserving her home at Canalside Wharf even easier, Rachael took advantage of George Wimpey’s fantastic easymover scheme, which lets customers reserve the new home of their choice for up to eight weeks whiles the housebuilder finds a buyer for their current home - and pays the estate agency fees and for the Home Information Pack.
And by buying her brand new apartment before it was built, Rachael was able to choose from a wider range of George Wimpey’s stylish Options, including fixtures and fittings for her bathroom and kitchen, which will be completed to her specification by the time she moves in.
Homes at Canalside Wharf are selling fast as word begins to spread about this charming development in the heart of rural Staffordshire, where one-bedroom apartments start at just £128,500, two-bedroom homes are available from only £133,500 and three-bedroom homes are priced from £209,995.
The development enjoys a beautiful setting on the edge of the former farming community of Weston, with selected homes enjoying wonderful views of a picturesque stretch of the Trent and Mersey Canal.
A range of everyday local amenities is close at hand, including a post office, a pub, a children’s playground, a doctor’s surgery and a village hall, with plenty of opportunities for relaxing countryside walks and cycling also nearby.
The lively town of Stafford lies just a few miles away with its rich variety of shops, places to eat, leisure facilities and nightlife. The town’s railway station provides regular services to London, Birmingham and Liverpool, while the M6 is only a 15-minute drive from the development.
