Seventy new Volvo FM artics are helping value retailer Iceland Frozen Foods Ltd to deliver goods for Christmas to its 700 plus stores.  The FM’s which were ordered from and supplied by North West England Dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials take Volvo’s share of the Iceland fleet up to around 60%.

Iceland has had a 20 year commercial relationship with Thomas Hardie including the management of the retailer’s Vehicle Maintenance Unit at Warrington.  They say that the decision to continue to operate Volvo trucks was made as a result of the competitive contract hire package which was tendered by Thomas Hardie in the latest purchasing round.

According to Iceland’s Contracts Manager David Hill, Iceland is driven by a philosophy of service and value.  This means that all savings made in the supply chain are passed on to their customers: “We offer everyday great value to our customers who demand quality products at competitive prices.  Volvo and Thomas Hardie have responded to our need for value in the supply chain with a competitive contract hire package.”

Thomas Hardie is supplying driver development advanced fuel economy training to Iceland’s own driver trainers.  The latest FM’s are performing to expectations on fuel, say David Hill.  All are fitted with I-Shift.

Of the longstanding relationship with Volvo and Thomas Hardie, says David Hill, “It’s a great product and great service which together make for a great package.”
