First time buyer Carrie Humphreys was thrilled to find that she could buy a brand new home at Barratt’s Orchard Leaze development in Stroud with the help of the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme.

Carrie, who also had some financial help from her parents is now happy in her new apartment after assistance from the scheme in which buyers only have to secure up to 70 per cent of the purchase price.  The remaining 30 per cent is funded by a shared equity loan from Barratt and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

“Without HomeBuy Direct and the contribution from my parents I would still be waiting to get onto the property ladder,’’ said Carrie.

“Instead I’m enjoying life in my apartment which is great for entertaining and as an added bonus I now have an easy commute to work.”

Carrie also said her new home is in a perfect location for local amenities such as the nearby Stratford Leisure Centre and shops.’

Barratt sales director Andrea Pilgrim said Carrie was one of a number of first time buyers taking advantage of the HomeBuy Direct scheme in the area. “It’s the perfect way for people to get onto the housing ladder and it is also available to those who have been priced out of the housing market but really want to own their own home again.”

Orchard Leaze is a located a mile from the centre of Stroud with lots of bars, restaurants, shops and local amenities near by. The M5 is just six miles away and Stroud train station offers regular services to London, Bristol and Birmingham.
