Asda set to win 2010 World Cup with exclusive FIFA deal

Asda's parent company Walmart has signed a global deal with FIFA to operate official 2010 FIFA World Cup event stores in outlets across the world. Asda customers will benefit from the deal by being able to buy great value official FIFA World Cup products in selected stores next summer. They will also be able to get their hands on hundreds of tickets for the finals including England's games.

Next year's World Cup is set to be a real family affair, with England games being screened at convenient times of the day enabling millions of fans to tune in. As a result Asda is gearing up for one of the biggest sporting events in its history.

Asda customers will be able to buy official FIFA branded cups, key rings, sticker sets, mascots (cuddly toys), and most importantly of all World Cup footballs - all at Asda's great low prices.

To celebrate the 2010 World Cup draw on Friday 4 December, Asda is kicking off the celebrations with great deals on in-store takeaway food including two curries for £4 and two Extra Special pizzas for £3 - as millions of families tune in to see who England are drawn against.

Rick Bendel, chief marketing officer at Asda said: "It's important that everyone gets the chance to enjoy the World Cup next year, that's why we'll be helping lower the price of the nation's favourite tournament.

"FIFA came to us as we are uniquely placed to offer fans all around the globe official World Cup merchandise at prices that are affordable to everyone.

"Expect to see a number of family-friendly deals and events in our stores next summer, and hundreds of golden tickets that we'll be giving away to the games in South Africa."

The FIFA World Cup will begin June 11, 2010 and finish July 11, 2010. More than 26 billion cumulative viewers watched the 64 matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
