The Chancellor has confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to £175,000 will end on 31st December. But Barratt East London is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes up to £250,000.

“When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not,” said Alastair Baird, managing director for Barratt London.

“So it’s not good news for anyone looking to buy in 2010 that the Government is ending the exemption period on properties worth up to £175,000.”

“If you decide to buy a new Barratt home in the New Year, however, you could still effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £250,000 as Barratt would pay it on your behalf. This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of moving to save themselves thousands of pounds simply by buying from Barratt.”

Homes exempt from Stamp Duty by Barratt East London are at St Andrews in Bromley-by-Bow and Tria in Bethnal Green.

Homes available at St Andrews include studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments in stylish contemporary buildings ranging in height from three storeys to 27 storeys – all set within landscaped grounds.  Prices start from £215,000.  For further information contact the Sales & Marketing Suite at St Andrews, Devons Road, Bromley-by-Bow, open daily from 10am to 6pm, on 020 7515 5788.

Homes available at the recently launched Tria include one and two-bedroom apartments with prices starting from £244,995. The single building rises to six storeys and is crowned by a stunning communal roof terrace. For more information, visit Barratthomes.co.uk.
