Stapenhill locals find low maintenance homes at Willowmead

Walton Homes, the developer behind Willowmead in the Staffordshire village of Stapenhill, has witnessed a trend of local people moving to the development simply to take advantage of low maintenance living and reduced household bills.

Gill and Ken Bell moved from a 1930’s traditional semi-detached property within walking distance of Willowmead into a three bedroom house at the new luxury development, located off Woods Lane. The couple took advantage of Walton Homes’ Select & Move scheme, which helped ease the biggest expense of moving, being estate agent fees.

Ken Bell explained why he and his wife chose to move to Willowmead.

“I took retirement recently and wanted the freedom to be able to enjoy my time without the worry of costly household maintenance, especially unforeseen problems that are impossible to plan for. We love living in Stapenhill, as all our friends and family are close by and it is so easy to walk the dogs in the local woodland area. When we walked past the Willowmead development and saw the houses taking shape, it immediately felt like an ideal scenario for us – a beautiful new home in the same location we had always loved.

“The flexibility of the accommodation has enabled us to use the rooms to suit our lifestyle, so we have dedicated a brilliant ground floor room to our two springer spaniels. We have also used a spacious first floor room that was indicated on the plans as a bedroom as a formal sitting room. The lovely spacious kitchen and open plan sitting area was a real selling point for us, as we instantly knew we would spend a lot of time there.

“One of the most satisfying elements of living at Willowmead is the significant reduction in our energy bills. Our gas bill is virtually half what we were paying to run our 1930’s home because of how well insulated the house is. And with a 10 year NHBC guarantee, we have total piece of mind that we can budget our money without having to set aside a significant rainy day fund to cover repair and maintenance work.”

There are only five homes still available at Willowmead. All of the homes are substantial detached residences with garages, priced from £177,950 for a three bedroom home, with the four bedroom home that is currently on release priced at £249,950.

The Select & Move incentive scheme, which is currently available across selected plots, enables purchasers to secure their preferred plot for a 12 week period. Walton Homes will appoint estate agents to market the current home and providing it is sold within this timeframe, Walton will cover the estate agent fees and the legal costs.

Willowmead benefits from being within easy reach of all of Stapenhill’s village amenities, while enjoying a peaceful and highly desirable cul-de-sac location. Specification features include contemporary fitted kitchens with integrated appliances and bathrooms and en-suites with designer white sanitaryware.

The four bedroom home currently on release at Willowmead is a one-off design that is not replicated anywhere else across the site. In addition to the design appeal of this special home, which is on the market for £249,950, it also benefits from a south facing garden. Meanwhile, the three bedroom detached homes consist of Arden and Windsor house types, offering purchasers varying layout options.
