Max out your car, not your card when travelling this Christmas

11th December 2009 Print

As thousands of people prepare to travel across the Irish Sea to spend Christmas with family and friends, many may be unprepared for the unwanted Christmas ‘presents’ they may find in the form of increased fares and baggage fees at check-in.

But customers of leading ferry company Stena Line can travel safe in the knowledge that they can pack their car to the brim with luggage and Christmas presents without the worry of extra charges - and can even look forward to extra leg room at no additional cost to boot. Stena Line’s Christmas cheer message this year is for those planning to visit family and friends to max out on their car and not their card when travelling for the festive season.

Nigel Tilson, Stena Line’s Communications Manager, said: “Christmas is a special time of year for people but quite often the price of travelling to visit family and friends can dampen spirits as the ‘extras’ pile up. At Stena Line we have festive value fares from only £95* single for a car and driver with additional passengers from only £20* single and children from as little as £10* single which will allow customers to take the car, the family, the luggage, even their pets and a sack filled with presents. And the price they see is the price they pay.

“Travelling by ferry has a host of advantages which more and more people are realising. Not only can customers leave their baggage in the car, safe in the knowledge that it won’t go lost or get damaged, but travelling with Stena Line means customers can start the Christmas celebrations early.  As soon as they board they can relax in one of our onboard restaurants or bars or even do some last minute Christmas shopping in our onboard shops which offer savings on fragrances, spirits and lots more, while the kids can have hours of amusement in the dedicated play areas.  All in all it offers a pretty good, hassle free start to the family festive season,” Nigel added.
