Barratt West London to extend Stamp Duty holiday

The Chancellor has confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to £175,000 will end on 31st December. But Barratt West London is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes up to £250,000.

This effectively means that many Barratt homes in the West London area will continue to be exempt from Stamp Duty because Barratt could pay it on their buyers’ behalf.

“When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not,” said Alastair Baird, managing director for Barratt London.

“So it’s not good news for anyone looking to buy in 2010 that the Government is ending the exemption period on properties worth up to £175,000.”

“If you decide to buy a new Barratt home in the New Year, however, you could still effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £250,000. This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of moving to save themselves thousands of pounds simply by buying from Barratt.”

Great West Quarter in Brentford has new homes that are currently available for the Barratt Stamp Duty holiday.

Golden Mile House has just been launched at Great West Quarter. Homes comprise 46 one, two and three-bedroom apartments with prices starting from £230,000.

When complete, Great West Quarter will provide 773 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including both private and affordable homes, shops, restaurants, a bar, a health club, an art gallery, a crèche, an hotel and serviced apartments. The central piazza, extending to over an acre, has been designed as a venue for public events and will provide the setting for a number of art installations. This piazza, along with courtyards and play areas, will create a focal point for community activities.
