Central London property sales buck seasonal trend
December has been unseasonally busy reports property consultants Cluttons.
Traditional trends would dictate that the weeks running up to Christmas offer a seasonal lull in property market activity as people wait until the New Year to sell houses or look for a new home, but this year Cluttons reports a busy market with both buyers and sellers out in force in Central London.
James Hyman, Partner for Residential Sales, says:
“This has to be one of the best Decembers we have experienced in many years, and could well be a record. We are currently experiencing the highest volume of agreed sales than at any other time this year. The market in prime Central London is buoyant, with property moving extremely quickly and a strong contingent of buyers for every property that comes on the market.
“There has certainly been a resurgence of people looking to buy and sell over the past few weeks, and the majority are cash rich individuals who are now making a move. The recent activity is certainly bucking the traditional trend and seasonality does not seem to be an issue this year, although there is still the possibility of turn in the market in 2010.”
