Skoda heads towards a more sustainable future

As a manufacturer of happy drivers, Skoda realises the importance of protecting the environment for future generations through sustainability.

As such, all current Skoda models (Fabia, Roomster, Octavia, Yeti and Superb) are certified by VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) in the UK, and meet Directive 2005/64/EC. Part of this legislation requires that 80 per cent of a vehicle's weight is recyclable.

However, Skoda has gone one step further in its native Czech Republic by not only ensuring that its cars are recyclable, but also that their reusable potential is fulfilled. Partner company, Callparts, offers a nationwide collection and disposal network in the Czech Republic, allowing owners of older  Skodas to dispose of their cars in an environmentally-friendly way.

“The average age of a car in the Czech Republic is 13.7 years. Most of the cars delivered to the collection network these days are Skodas; 105/120, Favorits and quite a few Felicias, too,” explains Marko Kosovi?, Skoda Auto's head of recycling and environmental protection. “If the vehicle is complete, its last owner does not pay anything for the disposal.“
