So it’s 2010, and as with any new year, it brings fresh beginnings. For many, this means a new career.

It might be that you have always been interested in beauty and wondered what it would be like to work in the industry, or already have some experience and wish to further your qualifications. Whatever the case, the Carlton Institute has launched a variety of beginner and professional courses at special rates throughout January and February.

From beginner courses in beauty therapy, holistic therapy and nail services, to professional beauty courses including facials, electrical body treatments, tanning, nail therapies, and massage courses including reflexology, Indian head and sports massage, the Carlton Institute can offer a brand new start for 2010.  In addition, there is the opportunity to learn Hollywood’s latest hair removal technique, Alexandria Body Sugaring.  This treatment is ideal for mobile work and for sensitive skins as the sugar paste does not need to be heated.

Well established for 18 years, the Carlton Institute is a leader and pioneer in providing fast track accredited recognised qualifications, with over 50 accredited courses from NVQ’s to individual modules in beauty therapy, nails, holistics as well as beauty business courses such as consultation selling.

Courses are available at Carlton Institute locations nationwide including some which are set within a working spa environment such as MalvernSpa. Other areas covered include: London, Essex, Devon, Wales, Tamworth, Derby, Leicester, Manchester, Durham and Scotland. All courses include the study of professional ethics, consultation techniques, client records, safety and hygiene, sterilisation and sanitisation, contra-indications, aftercare, basic anatomy and physiology, business and marketing in addition to the module being studied.

There are three types of qualification you can gain including: a Carlton Institute Diploma (CIBT) which is well established and recognised; National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 and 3 qualifications in beauty therapy; and the International Health & Beauty Council (IHBC) and International Institute of Health & Holistic Therapies (IIHHT) qualifications which are internationally recognised.

Beginner courses start from £450 for 3 days and professional beauty courses start from £95 for one day courses.
