Skipton opens its doors to people wanting to donate to Haiti

People wanting to donate money to help the estimated three million people affected by the Haiti Earthquake can now do so at their nearest Skipton Building Society branch.

On Tuesday a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti. Tens of thousands of people are believe to have died, with an estimated three million people believed to have been affected.

Skipton Building Society is supporting efforts to send much needed aid to Haiti. People can simply visit one of the Society's 90 branches and donate their money over the counter.

David Cutter, Group Chief Executive said: "I don't think there is anyone who isn't shocked and saddened by the terrible images we're seeing following the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

"In communities up and down the country people want to help. That's why we're playing our part by making it possible for them to donate at their nearest Skipton Building Society branch."

The Society is also making a donation of £500 into the dedicated Haiti account to support the fundraising effort.
