Leading house builder Barratt has made a new home reality for one Stroud couple who have taken advantage of the government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme.

First time buyers Cathy Legg and Dan Wood were so pleased with the quality on offer at Barratt’s Orchard Leaze development and the option of HomeBuy Direct they decided to make it their home.

The couple took advantage of HomeBuy Direct whereby buyers can just pay up to 70 per cent of the purchase price with the remaining 30 per cent funded by a shared equity loan from Barratt and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

“Stroud is a very special place for us both as we grew up here. I was thrilled when we found out about the HomeBuy Direct scheme and we love our new apartment,” said Cathy.

The couple said the whole process has been smooth and efficient and Dan said the staff at Orchard Leaze helped every step of the way.

Barratt sales director, Andrea Pilgrim added: “HomeBuy Direct has been a huge success for us in the area and has helped so many people onto the property ladder. It’s been a great scheme for first time buyers and others who have been priced out of the housing market in recent years.’’

The scheme is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting.

Orchard Leaze is located just one mile from the centre of Stroud, with its bars, restaurants, shops and weekly farmers’ market. Commuters are well served by the M5 motorway, just six miles away, and Stroud railway station, which offers regular services to London, Bristol and Birmingham.

For further details on HomeBuy Direct call the sales office at Orchard Leaze, open from 11am to 6pm Thursday to Monday, or visit barratthomes.co.uk/homebuydirect.
