With house prices from £90K - can you afford not to buy?

1st February 2010 Print

With North West property reportedly more affordable for first time buyers, now could be the time to stop throwing your money away on rent by stepping on to the property ladder with a new home at Grove Village, Manchester.

According to an annual review conducted by leading mortgage lenders Halifax*, home affordability for potential first time buyers has improved significantly. In 2007 homes in just 13% of local authority districts in the North West were deemed as affordable to those investing in their first home. That figure leaped to a massive 77% in 2009.

And, just perfect to meet the needs of those now tempted to buy, a selection of homes are available at Grove Village and can be ready to move into very quickly. Apartment living could be yours from £89,950 for a one-bedroom property, while two-bedroom apartments are available from £109,950.

Three-bedroom family homes are priced from £157,995, with larger four-bedroom properties available from £169,995.

Sarah Humphries, sales manager for Gleeson Homes, said: “People who rent for a long time are effectively throwing away thousands of pounds as they have nothing to show for what they’ve paid out. Traditionally many people have rented because they can’t afford to buy but as the figures from the Halifax show, buying has now become more affordable.”

Conveniently located off the A6 Stockport Road, Grove Village enjoys easy access to Manchester city centre.

Designed over three floors, to maximise the potential of the property’s footprint, the four-bedroom homes offer spacious living accommodation close to the city.

“The competitive price of our properties means that the cost of renting somewhere of a similar size could equal what your mortgage repayments would be,” Sarah commented.

“But while our customers are renting or paying a mortgage on an existing property, they may find it difficult to save towards a deposit to buy one of ours. We want to help our customers move onto or up the property ladder and that’s why we’re offering to pay 5% of the purchase price towards the deposit on selected homes.”
