Pupils take part in Lovell’s Valentine’s competition

Pupils from Westglade Primary School in Top Valley, Nottingham have been showing how they feel about their loved ones by taking part in a Valentine’s colouring competition with local housebuilder Lovell.

Lovell is building a collection of homes on nearby Bakewell Drive at a development called The Glades and bosses at the firm were keen to get involved with the school during this year’s season of love.

Three class mates came out on top in the competition with their colourful designs, winning themselves Toys R Us vouchers.  In first place was 10 year old Bria Anderson, second was Paige Rhodes age nine and third was Ricky Sampson age 11.

Bev Johnson, sales advisor at The Glades commented, “It’s been great looking through all the children’s entries and we found it very hard to pick just three!  Some of them had clearly put a lot of effort into their picture and I was particularly impressed by Ricky’s very touching reference to his pet hamster, Speedy.

“Bria’s was the clear winner however due to the beautifully drawn hands, which sit across a table during a romantic meal.  Hers showed real skill and lots of subtle details.”

Westglade’s Headteacher Jayne Parker added, “We were delighted when Lovell asked if they could run a competition as it’s always good to get the children involved in anything creative and make them aware of what’s going on in their local neighbourhood.  All the children thoroughly enjoyed designing their pictures and it was a good starting point for talking about the relevance of Valentine’s Day.”
