Saga generation overwhelmingly support a special levy on banks

The Saga generation would support a special banking levy to help the taxpayer recoup some of the money spend on supporting the banks.An overwhelming 85% of the 15,688 respondents to a recent Saga Populus Panel survey said they would support a levy on banks similar to that recently announced by U.S. President Obama.

Paul Green, head of communication, Saga Group, commented:  "Tax increases are normally never popular, but any Political Party would have strong support if they proposed such a measure.  The recent Saga Generation Manifesto demonstrated the importance of listening to this influential demographic which is likely to comprise the majority of those voting at the next General Election."
