East Midlands’ property professionals were among the first to see a critically acclaimed new housing collection that’s been introduced near Swadlincote.

Priory Fields in the South Derbyshire village of Church Gresley is one of the first developments in the UK to feature award-winning Redrow’s exclusive New Heritage Collection.

On the day that the collection was launched nationally in London, the doors were also officially thrown open to three fully furnished show homes at Priory Fields.

The New Heritage Collection offers a premium housing product with more than a hint of nostalgia, influenced by the ‘Arts and Crafts’ era.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands) unveiled the three show homes to an audience of estate agents, solicitors, surveyors and other property professionals from the area.

Designed to be instantly recognisable, The New Heritage Collection – as seen at Priory Fields - features traditional looking homes with all the character of an older period style property; and none of the drawbacks. Their high-specification interiors meet the demands of modern lifestyles and they are significantly more energy efficient than their second-hand counterparts.

One of the most popular and enduring of domestic architectural styles, the Arts and Crafts influence can be seen in many so-called ‘character’ homes from later periods, especially the 1920s and 1930s.

Pauline explains: “The new homes were designed with the help of feedback from our customers and consumer focus groups. Main points we took on board were most people’s desire for a conventional two-storey home, preferably detached, with an easily accessible garage and a garden of their own.

“They also wanted something that looked traditional – maybe evocative of the home they grew up in - but with the latest, statement-making kitchens, bathrooms and quality fixtures and fittings.

“In reply, some of the key architectural influences, styles, shapes, colours and textures reflected in the Arts and Crafts movement have been brought right up to date with high-specification interiors styled for modern living.”

Some of the external features which typify the Arts and Crafts era - and can be seen in varying degrees on the Priory Fields homes - include dropped eaves, projecting plinths, bays and other distinctive window styles, often with leaded lights. Other highlights include timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows, supported by decorative gallows brackets, and the use of larch lap boarding, while front door styles and colours also reflect the ‘heritage’ feel.

These traditional exteriors hide a contemporary interior specification, featuring convivial open plan living spaces, fashionable kitchen designs with floor to ceiling units, central islands and top brand name appliances, plus bathrooms that are sleek, modern and pleasing to the eye.

Prices for the new style homes at Priory Fields start from £144,995 and reach £299,995.

Also to celebrate the launch Redrow is offering customers the chance to choose a specially landscaped garden to complement their new home.
