Vauxhall Fleet signals increased commitment to the future
Underlining its reputation as a dynamic brand with a genuine commitment to the business community, Vauxhall has announced that, as of 18 February 2010, it will be focussing attention solely on its award-winning Vauxhall line-up and changing the name of its industry-leading fleet operation to Vauxhall Fleet from GMUK Fleet.
Following the restructuring of GM’s European-based operations, Vauxhall Fleet returns to the centre of the company’s approach to fleet customers. Saab is currently in discussion with Spyker Cars NV while Chevrolet is pursuing a more independent path that includes a brand specific fleet sales approach. Vauxhall and Chevrolet will continue to benefit from shared parentage with General Motors, but the two brands will now operate in the UK independently.
The Vauxhall Fleet Team will continue to handle all fleet activities and enquiries relating to Saab as it transitions to new ownership, while GMUK will continue to stand behind its obligations with regard to Saab servicing and warranty issues in the UK market.
‘Clearly, these are exciting times for Vauxhall’, said Fleet Sales Director, Maurice Howkins. ‘European Car of the Year 2009, Insignia, finished number one in its segment last year and all-new Astra was the 2009 winner of the Golden Steering Wheel Award – one of the European automotive industry’s most prestigious awards. Voted best vehicle in the ‘compact class’, the British-built all-new Astra has had a spectacular start and continues to go from strength to strength. Add the unrivalled back-up and commitment of Vauxhall’s comprehensive dealer network and we have a continuing recipe for future success’.
