Orbit expands 'HomeBuy' team

The Orbit HomeBuy Agents team has been further strengthened with the appointment of Janet Smith as Stakeholder Relations and Events Officer, with responsibility for the Staffordshire and Shropshire areas.
Janet’s task is to promote the Homebuy Schemes as widely as possible to those in need of an affordable home of their own – including New Build HomeBuy, HomeBuy Direct, and Rent to Homebuy. With 20 years spent in a sales environment, including seven spent in the field of housing, she has a wealth of experience to help her successfully achieve this.
“My background covers a wide range of sales experience,” said Janet. “During my career, I’ve sold all sorts of things, including classic cars and accessories, and a wide range of properties from celebrity pads to affordable housing. You might think it’s incredibly exciting selling homes to celebrities but it’s the first time buyers I enjoy working with the most because this is where you can really make a difference and this is why I’m really looking forward to developing this role.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see people finally move into their very own home, particularly when they’ve been struggling to find somewhere they could afford. They need help and we are here to provide it. Unfortunately, there are still lots of people in this situation who are unaware of the HomeBuy products available, or who think they are not eligible. I’ll be working in partnership with developers, local authorities and housing associations to convey the message, as widely as possible, that help and support is available and providing a point of contact for those who need further information.”
Orbit is the largest HomeBuy Agent in England, covering six ‘zones’ including Staffordshire and Shropshire. Orbit HomeBuy Agents act as a one-stop shop, to promote a range of products to people interested in finding an affordable home of their own - either to buy or to rent. This could include first time buyers, key workers, people looking for a new home following a relationship breakdown, social housing tenants, and those on a local authority waiting list – as long as their household income is less than £60,000, Orbit HomeBuy Agents may be able to help.
