You could buy a one-bedroom apartment for just £107,100 at Abbotts Wood, David Wilson Homes’ stunning new development in historic Winchester, now it’s been allocated homes on the government’s HomeBuy Direct scheme.

“These apartments are priced at £153,000, but they can be bought for as little as £107,100 through HomeBuy Direct scheme, now available on selected plots at Abbotts Wood. It’s fantastic to get this scheme awarded to such a prestigious development,” reports Mark Docherty, David Wilson Homes’ sales director.

“The scheme provides eligible buyers with an equity loan of up to 30 per cent, jointly funded by David Wilson Homes and the government’s Homes and Communities Agency. It makes new homes accessible to those who think they are currently priced out of the property market.”

The one-bedroom homes are located in the Chapel Lodge apartment block. Each home comes with a fully-fitted kitchen, lounge/dining area, bathroom, bedroom and a parking space outside.

“HomeBuy Direct is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting. People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so – perhaps where relationships have broken down – can also apply,” Mark added.

“Eligible households will have an income of up to £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market.”

Buyers must have at least five per cent of the 70 per cent to use as a deposit. They can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds.

“These one-bedroom homes enjoy a fabulous location in a woodland setting but they are close to the city centre,” Mark continued. “As the railway station is just a 10-minute walk away, they are also ideal for people who commute to London and other cities in the south.”

Winchester is an ancient and vibrant city nestling on the edge of the South Downs. In addition to quaint shopping streets and fine architecture, local attractions include a magnificent 11th century cathedral and the Great Hall, which houses King Arthur's Round Table.

Winchester train station offers regular services to the capital, and the M3 and M27 offer excellent transport links to Basingstoke, Southampton, the New Forest and the Dorset coast.
