The first sale at a prestigious new £6.5 million Daventry development is to ecstatic first time buyers who never dreamed they would get on the property ladder so young.

Ryan Lange (20) from Stesen Hill in Daventry and partner Laura Lansbury (21) from Long Buckby are now the proud owners of a three bedroom home at Drayton View by Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, which is a picturesque cul-de-sac development with panoramic views over Drayton Reservoir, bridle paths and open countryside.

And it was all made possible by their parents contributing towards their deposit savings, plus a gifted 5% deposit from Taylor Wimpey, which allowed for the all-important 85% loan to value mortgage needed to proceed.

Ryan explains: “We hadn’t been able to save a lot of money to be honest, but our parents helped us reach enough for 10%, but then we couldn’t get a 90% mortgage. Some friends then told us about Drayton View and we loved the look and feel of it straight away, so imagine our delight when Taylor Wimpey told us they could help out with an extra 5% deposit. This amounted to £7,500 and it was a real lifesaver. Plus, we had the pick of the plots and we’re finally able to get a decent mortgage, so it all slotted into place nicely.

“Laura and I had both been living with our parents, which was fine but we desperately wanted our own space. We managed to sweet talk them on the deposit and I’m sure they were glad to get rid of us in the end, but everyone’s a winner really. Besides, renting is dead money and at these prices it doesn’t cost much more to buy, plus I’m really pleased to get on the property ladder at a young age. That way we can pay the mortgage off earlier and use it as a retirement fund. The timing of it all was brilliant too because I’m sure house prices will go up again soon and we’ve got in just at the right time and got ourselves a bit of a bargain.

“All the Taylor Wimpey staff have been brilliant too with the sales executive taking us under her wing and really making it a stress free process. You only get this level of attention and financial assistance with new build, so we’re over the moon with the size of house we’ve finally got, where it’s located and the quality of the build.”

Situated at the more spacious top end of the new Middlemore development and nicely tucked away at the rear, Drayton View is located at the northern edge of Daventry town and easily accessible from the M1. And this burgeoning community overall enjoys new play areas, nature trails and cycleways, plus its own pub (the 18th century listed buildings that were once Middlemore Farm have been lovingly converted) and convenience store.

Drayton View is made up of 56 eco friendly/energy efficient mews and semi-detached family properties, executive detached homes and designer apartments. It benefits from lots of allocated parking and long established hedgerows, protected mature trees and open fields to the side.

Nearby Drayton Reservoir is one of best for carp fishing in England and surrounded by trees, waterside vegetation and a jetty-style wooden walkway. It also feeds into the Grand Union Canal, which is a conservation area and has lovely towpath walks. And also next door is the 140 acre Daventry Country Park, which boasts another impressive reservoir, along with circular walks, picnic areas and a nature reserve that attracts many rare species of birds and flowering plants.

Taylor Wimpey sales & marketing director, Jan Titley, says: “If ever there was a best-of-both-worlds development then this is it, because you’re close enough to the flourishing town centre to be able to take full advantage of all its amenities and road networks, while the stunning location, expansive views and recreational facilities lend themselves to a semi-rural existence that’s hard to come by these days.”

First availability at Drayton View is made up of spacious three bedroom family homes like Ryan and Laura have just bought from just £152,500. The new Sales Office off Farnborough Road is open Thursday – Monday from 10am – 5pm, or visit taylorwpimepy.co.uk/westmids.
