David Wilson Homes is bringing the government’s Homebuy Direct scheme to the masses with a roadshow at its St Richards Park development in Chichester.

The scheme provides eligible buyers with an equity loan of up to 30 per cent, jointly funded by David Wilson Homes and the government, making getting on the property ladder accessible for so many who think they are currently priced out of the market.

The weekend roadshow taking place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March has been designed by the housebuilder for buyers to come along and find out if they could be eligible for a home on the scheme and get all the information they might need.

Mark Docherty, David Wilson sales director, said: “We’ve secured additional homes under the HomeBuy Direct scheme at St Richards Park and thought a roadshow would be the perfect way to showcase the scheme and give potential buyers all the information they need. We will have independent financial advisors available to speak to and goodie bags for all visitors to take away.

“The scheme really is perfect for people who have been priced out of the housing market for years and can take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to buy a new home.

St Richards Park currently has the two bedroom Alford design available through HomeBuy Direct. The coach house which offers an en-suite to the master bedroom and a garage, has an asking price of £200,000 but with HomeBuy Direct, it can be purchased for just £140,000.

“The initiative is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting. People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so – perhaps where relationships have broken down – can also apply,” continued Mark.

“Eligible households will have an income of up to £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market,” he added.

Buyers can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds. Buyers must have at least five per cent of the 70 per cent to use as a deposit.

St Richard's Park is a stylish development of 100 homes, including one and two-bedroom maisonettes and apartments and three, four and five-bedroom houses and townhouses.

Chichester, a vibrant city and cultural centre for the arts, is home to the world-renowned Festival Theatre. The famous pedestrian centre around Market Cross boasts a variety of street entertainers and buskers and it is overlooked by the impressive cathedral.
