Tucan Travel launches guaranteed departures

After taking time off work, booking your flights and arranging for your neighbour to feed the cat, the last thing you need is for your trip to be cancelled because of a lack of people on your tour.

Tucan Travel’s new guaranteed departures take the guesswork out of planning your adventure and give you the peace of mind to book the tour that suits you.

A guaranteed departure means that the tour will definitely operate on the day it is scheduled and will not be cancelled for lack of participation. All guaranteed departures will run except in the event of a natural disaster or other similarly disruptive event that is beyond our control.

General Manager Bec Whiffin said guaranteed departures offered benefits for travellers, agents and Tucan Travel. “Guaranteeing departures offers clients and travel agents the assurance that their tour will definitely depart, so travellers can book their flights, tour and pre and post accommodation without worrying about potential cancellation costs. As a tour operator, guaranteed departures give us the ability to confirm our staffing, hotel bookings and transport arrangements well ahead of time. It’s a win-win-win because it takes the uncertainty out of the process and gives everyone the confidence that their plans are going to work out well.” Ms Whiffin said.

“We have already guaranteed hundreds of departures but we are taking a flexible approach. Most of our tours have been guaranteed for departures from now until the end of October 2010 and we will be constantly reviewing our tour availability to make sure we can guarantee as many tours as possible, going forward.” Ms Whiffin said.

Guaranteed departures are indicated on our website in the availability grid and availability list. Dark green icons mean this tour is guaranteed to depart and has at least 3 places remaining. A pale green icon means this tour is available and has at least 3 places remaining.

While Tucan Travel will make every attempt to operate a tour, we reserve the right to cancel a tour, at any time, due to reasons beyond our control that might create unsafe or undesirable travel conditions. Cancellations are also covered under ‘force majeure’ in our booking conditions.
