Redrow's Heritage Collection comes to Earl Shilton

31st March 2010 Print

Redrow's exciting New Heritage Collection – instantly recognisable housing designs which combine the best of old and new – is coming to the Leicestershire town of Earl Shilton.

The New Heritage Collection is a premium housing product with more than a hint of nostalgia, influenced by the ‘Arts and Crafts’ era, but boasting a specification to meet the needs of modern lifestyles.

Designs from the New Heritage Collection will be available at Redrow’s latest development Rossendale Garden, off Rossendale Road, in Earl Shilton.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “The New Heritage Collection has been wowing customers across the country since it was launched in February and we are confident that the homes at Rossendale Garden will build on that success.”

Just as the Arts and Crafts era (c1850 – 1915) grew from the desire to bring back the skill and creativity of the individual craftsman and revive the simplicity and honesty in the way buildings and furnishings were made, Redrow has deliberately set out to reintroduce a high degree of individuality to the way its homes look and feel.

“Feedback from the majority of our customers tells us that they want a conventional two-storey home, with an easily accessible garage and a garden of their own. They want something that looks traditional, perhaps evocative of the family home they grew up in, but they want it to have the latest statement-making kitchens, bathrooms and good quality fixtures and fittings,” Pauline commented.

“In designing this, some of the architectural influences, styles, shapes, colours and textures reflected in the Arts and Crafts movement have been brought right up to date with high-specification interiors styled for modern living.”

The result is a set of homes which are very quickly appealing to new home buyers across the UK.

Rossendale Garden will be officially launched in late April with the opening of a sales office and show home.

By registering their interest now and being among the first to buy ‘off-plan’, would-be purchasers have the chance to reap the benefits of their early investment.

“As well as being able to choose their preferred plot, those who buy before the homes are physically built also have more choice of the individual design touches that really make a home their own,” Pauline added.

Some of the external features which typify the Arts and Crafts era will be seen in varying degrees on the Earl Shilton homes - including dropped eaves, projecting plinths, bays and other distinctive window styles, often with leaded lights. Other highlights will include timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows, supported by decorative gallows brackets, and the use of larch lap boarding, while front door styles and colours will also reflect the ‘heritage’ feel.

These traditional exteriors will hide a contemporary interior specification, featuring convivial open plan living spaces, fashionable kitchen designs with floor to ceiling units, central islands and top brand name appliances, plus bathrooms that are sleek, modern and pleasing to the eye.

Rossendale Garden will be a small development of new homes in a variety of two and three-bedroom styles. It is close to Earl Shilton town centre and enjoys easy access to Leicester, Hinkley and Nuneaton.
