David Wilson Homes is bringing the government’s Homebuy Direct scheme to the Island masses with a roadshow at its Carisbrooke Grange development in Newport.

The scheme provides eligible buyers with an equity loan of up to 30 per cent, jointly funded by David Wilson Homes and the government, making getting on the property ladder accessible for so many who think they are currently priced out of the market.

The weekend roadshow taking place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April has been designed by the housebuilder for Islanders to come along and find out if they could be eligible for a home on the scheme and get all the information they might need.

Mark Docherty, David Wilson sales director, said: “We’ve secured additional homes under the HomeBuy Direct scheme at Carisbrooke Grange and thought a roadshow would be the perfect way to showcase the scheme and give potential buyers all the information they need. We will have independent financial advisors available to speak to and goodie bags for all visitors to take away.

“The scheme really is perfect for people who have been priced out of the housing market for years and can take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to buy a new home. The 30 per cent equity loan from ourselves and the government means that, in many cases, they don’t even need to have a deposit.

Carisbrooke Grange offers the one bedroom Petworth coachhouse with parking with an asking price of £112,000, available through HomeBuy Direct for an incredible £78,400.

The three bedroom end of terrace Shelburne which comes with parking on the market for £194,000 is available for just £135,800. A great price for a three bedroom home on the Island.

“The initiative is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting. People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so – perhaps where relationships have broken down – can also apply,” continued Mark.

“Eligible households will have an income of up to £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market,” he added.

Buyers can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds.

Carisbrooke Grange is a select development of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes in a convenient position to the west of Newport. The area is an ideal location for all age groups as it offers a wealth of amenities and easy links to the mainland. Over half of the island is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
