Mike Sweet (25) and Liz Hart (23) have more than one reason to celebrate after finding the perfect family home at Barratt’s Fieldways development in Paulton.

The happy couple are expecting a baby and are the first in the country to be accepted for HomeBuy Direct under funding from Barratt and the government’s Kickstart housing scheme.

They paid just £129,497 for a brand new three bedroom Maidstone property at Fieldways as 30% was paid for by a shared equity loan from Barratt and the Homes and Communities Agency.

“We were looking for somewhere to start a family, and Fieldways really fits the bill,” said Liz. “The development has a real community feel and I can see myself raising children here.”

“The HomeBuy Direct scheme is perfect for us as it means the dream of starting a family together can be a reality. Without the scheme we would not be able to move,” she continued.

Liz uses the nearby A37 to commute to her admin assistant job in Bristol while Mike works as an agricultural worker in Paulton.

“The Maidstone house is exactly what we were looking for and has areas for children to play in,” she continued. “What’s more everyone at the development is so friendly so it’s the perfect place for us to build a life together.”

The Homes and Communities agency’s Kickstart scheme will provide £450m of funding for HomeBuy Direct and other initiatives to help boost the housing market.

Barratt sales director, Andrea Pilgrim continued: “First time buyers and others who are currently renting see HomeBuy Direct as the ideal opportunity to get a foot on the property ladder.”

“This development is very well placed to offer everything buyers need for both work and pleasure,” said Andrea Pilgrim. “Fieldways is close to Radstock and the market town of Midsomer Norton. It has excellent transport links – with the A37 and the A39 providing just short journeys to the thriving cities of Bristol and Bath.

“And for those seeking the tranquility of the countryside, the nearby Mendip Hills is an Area of Natural Beauty – offering a beautiful landscape with unique places to visit and activities for everyone.”

For further details call the Fieldways sales office, open from 11am to 6pm Thursday to Monday.
